Everyone knew Frank as “Franny” or Frank, but I knew him as “Pop!” It was an honorary title that I bestowed upon him and he enjoyed. Pop was a man that always said he didn’t like many people, but if you knew Pop and he liked you, you were a friend. If he loved you, you were so much more! He was my friend and a father figure. We always had coffee together to talk about people and life. He loved to share his stories and loved to show his collectibles with me (especially the watches that he knew I loved!) He was always there to lend an ear, offer help and to just chat. He was one of a kind and I will miss driving out to Washington just to hang out and have a cup with him for 15 minutes or several hours. I was honored to know him, to have him in my life and to be among those that he loved.
Thank you Alice for EVERYTHING you’ve done for him. As I told you, he was appreciative even if he didn’t say it too often!
Much love to everyone that knew Pop and loved him....despite his grumpiness! I’m glad he’s now with “Whitey” (Janet) again!!!
Love you Pop!

My condolences to the family on the death of "Franny." I only saw him at auctions with Janet always interested in vintage items. He was always a friendly face in the crowd.
Sincerely, Alda Mattison

My sincere condolences to Frank's family. I am saddened by the news of his passing as my enduring memories of Frank remain of an extraordinarily gracious, helpful and resilient man. His sincerity knew no bounds and his ready willingness to help anyone was completely genuine. It was a true joy to work together and despite the ensuing years since Frank retired from SSP we still cherish those memories of a lovely gracious man.
