Janet and Frank were always great to spend and evening with comparing notes on our latest antiquing adventures. We would laugh and have a ball. I also went to many an auction with Janet and talked about everything from food to Boston Terriers to kids to all kinds of future and past adventures and always had fun, there was no better person to spend a day with than Janet. I'll miss her but I'm very happy she passed away having fun with friends and family

My heart really goes out to anyone who was a friend of Janet or a member of her family.
I was lucky to be able to call her a friend, because she was a life-long close friend of my sister, Alice Varney Kaspar.
I never called her "Janet" -- since we were kids, my nickname for her was "Nettie." Nettie and I were friends because we both loved to laugh - and we laughed our way through our childhood - in the Washington Children's Choir School, just hanging around the neighborhood at my house or hers, or during a Christmas season when I worked with her at the Sears store. I didn't see her much after our teen years, because I left Washington and hardly ever went back. But we kept in touch over the years through my sister Alice.
My first memory of Nettie was of being jealous of this tough - but pretty - little girl with all those blond curls -- whose fierce Doberman Duke - actually pulled her along the street on roller skates! I never had a dog who could pull me on roller skates -- but Nettie did!! And Nettie was the only one who didn't fear that dog, who used to sit in her dad's truck and dare you to get close!
My favorite Nettie story was her famous Christmas Eve Story: when she was little, she was told that she had to be in bed and asleep on Christmas Eve -- or Santa Claus wouldn't leave her any presents.
So one Christmas Eve, Little Janet was slightly indisposed -- she had the runs!
She was in the bathroom, sitting on the toilet, when she heard some snow fall from a tree and hit the roof.
She thought it was Santa's sleigh landing!
So in a panic, Janet jumped off the toilet and ran down the hall - trailing her runs behind her - to her bedroom, where she jumped into bed and pulled up the sheets!
She said there was quite a mess to clean up that year -- but she got lots of nice presents from Santa!
I used to make Nettie tell that story a lot, and every time she did, she told it with that one-of-a kind Nettie laughter.
Nettie was a wonderful friend, a really good-hearted person, and a lot of fun!
Thank you so much for that fine Video Tribute -- it really brought back, through her smile - what fun it was to be around her.
Rest in Peace, Nettie --
I love you and I'll miss you, and I'm glad you didn't have to suffer.
