I last saw Mark about 20 years ago. I was scurrying out the front door excited about the opportunities that awaited me as a result of an early retirement package from Avaya. Mark was scurrying in the opposite direction to rescue another beleaguered colleague from computer abyss. He earned his life-saving badge on the job because business computers arrived on his watch and we all needed his help. Friendly, patient and undeterred by the mysteries that confounded all of us, Mark was always there with an infectious smile and electronic wizardry. He was kind, warm, fun to be with and graced all who fell within his orbit. When I think of Mark I remember a friend who left this world a little better off than how he found it.

Thank you all for the beautiful and kind words you have for my brother. I have been avoiding this page for obvious reasons, but after talking with a lifelong friend of mine on the phone, and hearing some of his memories of growing up with us, I had to come here to read for myself.
Thank you. And God Bless You Mark.

Words are hard to find to describe how I feel about Mark’s loss, he was such a great neighbor, someone you could count on for help or just to chat about stuff like football and his beloved Dolphins. He was always so supportive in times of need like when I found myself without a job. Mark was there to help me out. He was truly a good friend I will truly miss.
One great memory I’ll never forget was when my family first moved to Oxford, it was the first big winter snow and Mark was out in the street riding his mountain bike! It was a sign of his great sense of humor. He would then take his giant snow blower and come by to help clean the snow off the driveway. That was so indicative of who he was.
My family sends their deepest condolences to Elyn, Abby, and his entire family. May Mark rest In Peace.

Mark ignited laughter and good times as he relayed life's observations and challenges with his command of storytelling. He was a passionate guy that would get on a roll about any subject from poor ATT work strategies that doubled his workload to running his dogs while trying to stop them from eating crap - he coined the term "turd merchant". He would have us in tears as his face would get red, that vein on his forehead would pulse, and just a little bit of spit would be projecting out as he too would be laughing while reciting the latest ridiculous situations. He showed us how to take it up a notch, how to enjoy everything just a little bit better.
The photo (1994) attached with Mark, Carolyn Ferguson and Joan Mirande is a slice of that life, our hearts ache knowing he's fallen silent. Condolences to his family and the world.

I’ve been struggling to find the words to describe how incredible a man, father, husband and friend you are. We started as neighbors and quickly became friends. From game night with Abby on the monitor to stealing real estate signs and running through fences. Ok I did the last two while you watched and laughed. I feel like we’ve grown together over the past ten years. You were not only a friend but a mentor and sometime counselor as well. We shared so many great conversations and times together that I’ll always cherish. You helped me through some difficult times and shared some incredible times. Your love for your family stands out the most. The pride in sharing achievements and milestones for Abby Jason and Brian and bragging or rubbing it in about Elyn’s cooking. Especially the bean soup. Elyn, Abby, Brian and Jason I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you always hear your father and husband infectious laugh and carry with you his incredible love and pride in you.

I was with Jeff, Tony and Mark for many of those early AT&T memories and still smile when I think of them, well except for today when I'm having trouble typing this with tear filled eyes. Jeff's epic fail at mountain biking was one of Mark and my most laughable memories. We biked together at least 4 days a week and as far away as Crested Butte and my time with him is cherished.
Watching football and grilling food at his place in Manchester was a Sunday event nobody should miss because you never knew what was going to happen. Sparks flying from behind the couch as Jason, aka birdman, put a metal gum wrapper in the outlet. His beloved rhodesian ridgebacks sneaking off with my global thermal nuclear wings and yelping a short time later. It didn't matter what happened, Mark was all smiles and making everyone laugh.
It is so evident from the memories and tributes that Mark was loved by so many and left us too soon. My heart and thoughts go out to Elyn, Bryan, Jason, Abigail and Scott. There is a big void in your lives but remember the laughs, smiles and great times and celebrate the time spent with a legend of a father, husband and friend.

Mark, The picture of all of us in HK I had just sent to you on Thursday after it showed in my memories. You said, "I love that". The other picture shows your infectious smile and I can still hear your laugh. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Your humor always made my day. I once sent you a picture of the weather here and it was cold and freezing and you sent me a picture of a beautiful sunny day overlooking your pool in response. Great memories. I will miss, so very much, talking to you Mark. Rest easy brother.

I've been totally numb since hearing the news of your passing. I think back on so many great memories.
You were the first person I contacted after Tony Morgan had an "unfortunate shoe accident" at the Meadowlands after a Jet game. I couldn't wait to get home and call you (pre-cell phones) because I knew how much the story would make you laugh. Nobody loved hearing the story of the doodie shoe more than you. The hours of laughs we had from that story still makes me smile.
Sitting in the back of the plotter room circa mid 1990's laminating some posters you were the first person I ever heard utter the phrase "close enough for government work". I had no idea what that meant and never heard it used before. I now use that phrase literally once a week and every time I do I think of you and that day in the plotter room.
I think about the hours and hours we spent discussing our fantasy football teams and "crunching the numbers". We had so many conversations about how bad our teams usually were. I think in the 20+ years we played in the RFL usually either your team or my team was in last place. And the other wasn't far behind.
I recall the joy I brought you with my failures at mountain biking. Including tossing both my bike and shoes up a snowy hill and proclaiming, "F&^* this stupid sport" effectively ending my brief stint at mountain biking.
I remember the times we took the dogs for runs in the park and how hard you laughed when my dog Jack came running out of the woods covered head to toe in a thick layer of mud with no way to clean him.
I remember you dropping me off at the entrance of the AT&T building and attaching the ceremonial EID "ball and chain" to my leg the week before my wedding. Then sitting at the entrance of the building laughing as I had to make the long walk up the entrance way.
I remember talking with you earlier this year about the time we spent together working at AT&T in the 90's and how much fun that time was, and all the crazy characters we worked with. I look back at the time we all worked together as some of the fondest memories in my life and I was very fortunate to be able to experience those moments with you. Thank you!

Mark was a great friend. We spoke nearly every day and shared common life goals. He truly loved his family and was such a proud father. Mark would always tell you how it is whether you liked it or not, but he would do it with his Cool Hand Luke smile so that you would walk away from the conversation feeling good either way. Mark was a true original and will be dearly missed. Love you brother.
