Obituary of Jean Elizabeth Leonard

Jean Elizabeth Leonard, 91, of Washington, NJ (previously of Belvidere, NJ) passed away peacefully on September 23, 2019 at St. Luke's Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ Jean was born on March 17, 1928 in Newark, NJ to the late Joseph and Elsie Gies. She married the love of her life Christopher Leonard in 1946. They celebrated 55 years together prior to his passing in 2001. Jean was employed as a secretary for the NJ Veterans Home in Menlo Park, NJ prior to her retirement in 1992. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was and excellent roller-skater and she and her late husband Christopher were a duo in many skate-dance events. Jean also liked to play the piano. She also enjoyed eating Italian hot dogs. She was an animal lover and would often feed strays. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by her loving children, daughter Sandie Murray and her husband Mark; and son, Chris Leonard III and his wife Janet; her adored grandchildren; Joe Murray and Kevin, Ryan and Sheila Leonard. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 3:30-7:00 PM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882 Funeral service will immediately follow the visitation in the funeral home at 7:00 PM. Burial will be held privately at Brigadier General William C.
