Obituary of Marie Pappas

Marie Pappas, 86, of Somerset, NJ (formally of Manville, NJ) passed away peacefully on March 17, 2019 at Somerset Woods Nursing Home.

Marie was born on June 7, 1932 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Louis and Fannie Mondana.

She was employed as a house keeper for over 20 years at the Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville, NJ.  Marie was a devoted catholic and attended weekly Mass until recently when she would watch Mass on television.  She enjoyed Needle Point, Embroidery and was an avid fan of classic movies.

She is survived by her devoted husband Thomas Pappas. Her loving daughters, Alice Dooney and Sharon Lawson, her son-in-law Vernon Lawson.  2 grandchildren, Natalie Spilotras and Jason Spilotras, 5 great-grandchildren,  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her 1st husband Walter F. Oakes, her sisters Eva Brown and Theresa Beckett, her brothers Charles Mondana, Sam Mondana and Frank Mondana and her son-in-law Brian Dooney.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 10-11 AM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 24 W. Washington. Ave Washington, NJ 07882 Memorial service will immediately follow the visitation in the funeral home at 11:00 AM.  Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery following the service.
