Obituary of Jay C. Gardner
Jay C. Gardner, 71, of Washington, NJ, died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Warren Hospital.
Born: On March 23, 1935 in Port Murray, NJ, he was a son of Della Gardner of Port Murray, NJ, and the late Harry F. Gardner.
Personal: Jay and his wife, Helen, were married for 52 years.
A 50 year resident of Washington, NJ, Jay previously resided in Oxford and Port Murray, NJ. He was employed as a truck driver with the Warren County Road Department, retiring in 1997 after 33 years of service. He graduated from Hackettstown High School, Class of 1953 and was of the Baptist faith.
Jay loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.
Memberships: He was a member of the Butler Park Fire Department, Anderson Rod & Gun Club, and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Helen, and his mother, Della, he is survived by a daughter, Donna Gardner of Washington, NJ; a brother, Darwin of Port Murray, NJ; a sister, Joyce Burk of Broadway, and many nieces and nephews.
Services: Visitation will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Warren Hills/Ford Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Rick Harrison officiating at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pequest Union Cemetery, Great Meadows, NJ.
