Obituary of Mildred Maliszewski
Mildred (Millie) Lorraine Maliszewski, 91, formally of Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully on May, 5, 2017, at Chelsea Assisted Living in Belvidere, NJ. Millie was born on March 5, 1926 in Aitkin, Minnesota to the late Olaf Gustaf and Edith Lind. She attended Gun Lake School and graduated from Aitkin High School in 1943. Millie then continued her education at Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota and graduated in 1947. She was a member of the Cadet's Nursing Core. She met and married the love of her life, Henry (Hank) Maliszewski on June 10, 1950. Henry and Millie met in Rochester, Minnesota. Henry a student at Xavier University, was Millie's patient at the Mayo Clinic. Henry reveled in telling family and friends that he knew, upon first seeing Millie, that he would marry her. Millie would quickly confirm their instant connection, though was always more demure in the retelling. Over their long marriage, they built a beautiful life together and for their five children, ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Millie worked as a Registered Nurse in the newborn nursery at Rahway Hospital and as a Head Nurse at Warren Haven Nursing Home in Oxford, NJ for many years, retiring in 1990. Millie was a dedicated and highly respected nurse. She was passionate about her career. Millie was deeply loved by her friends and family. Millie was known for her warm, loving demeanor, her quick wit, good humor, her love of sweets, and her joy at being with friends and family, particularly her grandchildren, to whom she was "Nana". She is survived by her loving children, Thomas, Richard and his wife Helen, Jeanine and her partner Gene, Rebecca and her husband Bud, and Stephen and his partner Deena. Her cherished grandchildren, Mark, Paul, Danny, Gregory, Jesse, Shannon, Courtney, Erin, Casey and Caitlin and her great-grandchildren, Johnny, Jack, Eli, Jacob, Lincoln and Amelia. She also leaves behind a brother Maurice and his wife Sherry and sisters in law Ardis Lind and Hulda Lind and a brother-in-law Warren Hauert. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her Husband Henry, her siblings, Bob Lind (Ada, Jessie), Carl Lind, Donald Lind, Ruth Godwin (B.G), Helen Hansen (Jim) and Lois Hauert and a Daughter in law, Lori Maliszewski.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ 07823. Inurnment will immediately follow the mass in the parish cemetery.
