Obituary of Ponciano Mendoza Jimenez

Ponciano Mendoza Jimenez, 79, previously of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on December 3, 2016 at the Care Center of Brakeley in Lopatcong, NJ with his family by his side. He was born on March 9, 1937 in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines to the late Remigio and Leonora Jimenez. Ponciano Majored in Business Administration and earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce in the Philippines. He met and married the love of his life Gloria. They were married for 37 years prior to her passing in 2003. Ponciano was employed as an Account Specialist at Merrill Lynch for many years. Upon leaving Merrill Lynch he was then employed at the NY Queens Post Office until his retirement in 1990. He was a devote Catholic. He enjoyed listening to classical music and loved to watch old movies on TV. His hobbies included reading business publications such as the Wall Street Journal and Money Magazine. He also loved to cook and entertain friends and family. He was very friendly and loved to tell stories of his younger years. He will be remembered as a man who was always meticulous of his appearance. He cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed babysitting them. He is survived by his loving children, sons, Enrique Jimenez and Edwin Jimenez and daughters, Evangeline Canete, Elisa Fernando and Estrellita Guanlao. 13 treasured grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his devoted wife Gloria and 3 brothers. A Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 200 Carlton Ave., Washington, NJ 07882 Burial will immediately follow in Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ.
