Obituary of Helen Thomas

Helen Thomas, 90, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2016 at the Easton Care Center in Easton, PA Helen was born on January 27, 1925 in Stewartsville, NJ to the late Alfred and Ethel Berger A lifelong resident of Warren County Helen was of the Presbyterian faith. She enjoyed going to Bingo and baking. She is most known for her “Graham Cracker Pie” which she loved to make for her family and friends. Helen enjoyed the American Legion of Friday Night in Stewartsville. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, cherishing most of all her time with family. She is survived by her companion of 22 years, Robert Howell, her loving children, 2 daughters, Paula DeBenedetto and her husband Peter and Marsha Hichtcock, 2 sons Robert Howell and his wife Linda and Donald Howell. 2 sisters, Ruth Schmidt and Joyce Turdo, 3 brothers, Arthur Berger, Alfred Berger Jr. and Elwood Berger. 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Leslie Thomas who passed in 1987 and 12 brothers and sisters. Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Memorial Service Celebrating Helen’s life will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. At the family’s request, Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be in Helen’s name to the American Legion Mecsey Bishop Post No 456, 323 Greenwich St, Stewartsville, NJ 08886.
