Obituary of Walter William Garrecht

Walter W. Garrecht 79, of Washington NJ passed away peacefully on December 10, 2013 at Muhlenberg Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. Born: On December 9, 1934 in Phillipsburg, NJ to the late Walter and Pearl Garrecht. Personal: Walt was a lifelong resident of Warren County residing in Washington with his wife for the past 59 years. He is a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1952. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. Walter was employed by M&M/Mars in Hackettstown NJ for 32 years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed playing softball with the Mars team. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing horseshoes. He was an avid reader and a strong proponent of education. Walter is of the Lutheran Faith. He loved to have a project to do and was known fondly by his family as Mr. Fixit. He loved his family and the time spent with them. He will be sadly missed. Survivors: Walter is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Carole, a beloved daughter Tamara Garrecht and her fiance Paul Clucas, a loving son Brent Garrecht and his wife Maureen and a Sister Doris Hannan. Five grandchildren - Ashley Guarino and her husband Jeremy, William Nelson, and Brandy, Nicole, and Mickayla Garrecht. Four great grandchildren, Georgia, Stella, Isaiah and Michael. Services: Friends and family may call on Friday December 20th, 2013 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Warren County Community College Foundation in memory of Walter Garrecht, 475 Rt. 57 West, Washington NJ 07882. A scholarship in his name will be set up at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Avenue, Washington NJ 07882.
