Obituary of Charlotte Matheis

Charlotte Jamie Matheis, 64, of Broadway NJ, went to be with the Lord on Sunday June 14th 2015. She was surrounded by her family and friends at St. Luke's Hospice House in Bethlehem, PA. She was predeceased by her parents Frederick and Genevieve Koepke, and her sister Susan Howell, who is survived by her husband Larry. Charlotte was born on September 6th 1950 in Elizabeth, NJ. Over the years, Charlotte worked many places, but most came to know her when she worked as the night shift manager at the Washington Diner and later when she became a Police Communications Officer with Washington Borough. After leaving Washington Borough, she went on to work as a dispatcher at Pinnacle Materials in Glenn Gardner and Baer Aggregates in Alpha NJ. She was also previously a firefighter with the New Village Volunteer Fire Department and an EMS Lieutenant with the Franklin Township Rescue Squad. She was also a proud and active member of Rolling Thunder Chapter 3 NJ where her beloved husband George, who she celebrated 47 years of marriage with on May 11th 2015, currently serves as President. Motorcycle and Veteran causes are a huge part of the Matheis family's lives. Besides her husband, surviving family members include her son George F Matheis Jr and his wife Lisa of Brogue PA. Like his father, George Jr is a United States Army Veteran and is a retired Officer First Class from the Aberdeen Maryland Police Department. George also currently serves as the Vice President of American Legion Riders Chapter 543 Red Lion PA. George and Lisa have three children; Elizabeth Mary Claire (19), George Frank Matheis III (15), and Emilie Grace (13). Charlotte is also survived by her daughter; Genevieve Bucher and her husband James along with their daughter Gracie Marie (8) who also reside in Broadway NJ. Genevieve, her husband, and George Sr cared for Charlotte in their home since a motorcycle accident left her paralyzed in 2007 fulfilling a promise that she would never go to a nursing home. Charlotte is also survived by her siblings Gary Koepke and his wife Sheryl of Orlando FL, Brian Koepke of CA, Frederick Koepke Jr and his wife Sally of FL, Mary Lee Koepke of NC, and Joanne Flynn of Tampa FL, Robin Wambach and her husband Jim of Worcester MA. She also had 20 nieces and nephews. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday June 18, 2015 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM & 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral Services will be celebrated on Friday June 19, 2015 at 3:00 PM with Father Michael Brecht of Holy Trinity Charismatic Episcopal Church in New Freedom PA officiating. Interment will follow in Montana Mountain Cemetery in Harmony, NJ The family requests that as many people as possible attend all services on motorcycles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rolling Thunder Chapter 3 NJ.
