Obituary of Lillian Emma Wartes
Lillian Emma Wartes, age 95, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2015 at Heath Village Health Care Center.
Born on January 5, 1920 in Bastrop County, Texas, she was one of 10 children of the late Philip and Annie (Bartsch) Hoffman.
Lillian was a U. S. Air Force military wife of the late Jesse L. Wartes and lived in many parts of the United States. Before coming to live with her daughter Linda in Washington, New Jersey, she lived in Austin, Texas where she worked many years for Mrs. Johnson's Bakery. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, fishing and cherished time spent with family. She will always be an inspiration to those who knew her for her kindness, strength, courage and wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her son Larry Wartes and his wife Linda, and her daughter Linda Chellew and her husband Jack. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and another great grandchild due in September 2015. Also surviving her are her two sisters, Bertha Smith and Alma Benavides and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial service will be held on May 16, 2015 at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey 07882 with interment following at Union Chapel Mausoleum in Union Cemetery in Hackettstown, New Jersey. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
