Obituary of John Ferry

John "Jack" Ferry, 82, of Washington, N.J., died Thursday, July 6, 2006, in Easton Hospital, Wilson Borough. Born: August 15, 1923 in Allentown, he was a son of the late John Vincent and Blanch Ferry. Personal: He had lived in Washington, N.J. for 38 years. Prior to that, he lived in Pompton Plains, N.J. He was the Human Resources Director at American National Can in Washington, N.J. for 35 years until he retired in 1985. He graduated from William Allen High School, and was also a graduate of Lafayette College, Class of 1948. Jack served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was trained as a frogman, which was a prelude to the modern U.S. Navy Seals. He saw action in the Pacific. Jack was called back to duty during the Korean War and served as an instructor in Annapolis, Md. He and his loving wife, June, were married for 53 years. Memberships: Jack was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Washington, N.J. He was also a member of American Legion Post 103, and the Elks Lodge, both in Washington, N.J. He was a past member of the Warren Hills Regional School District Board of Education, and a past councilman in Washington Borough, N.J. Survivors: In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Blair Hysong, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Bridget Tomlinson, and her husband, Roy, of Ontario, Canada; three sons, Michael, and his wife, Jean, of Washington, N.J., Stephen, and his wife, Lorraine, of High Bridge, N.J., and John C., of Tampa, Fla., and six grandchildren, Sean, John, Matthew, David, Daniel, and Michael. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church, 200 W. Carlton Ave., Washington, N.J. Call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Warren Hills/Ford Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, N.J. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery.
