Obituary of Shirley Black
Shirley E. (Heft) Deemer Black, 79, of Palmer Township, PA formerly of Hampton, NJ, died Sunday, August 24, 2014, in her home.
Born December 6, 1934 in Hampton, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Nellie (Snyder)
Personal: Heft.Shirley was a speech therapist at the Hunterdon Developmental Center, Union Township, NJ for 23 years until her retirement in 1995.She was a volunteer for the little league refreshment stand in Hampton, NJ for 7 years and was also active in the Hampton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She loved bingo, casinos, playing cards, word puzzles, camping, needle point, crocheting, cooking, reading, traveling and making Christmas stockings for her family. Shirley was preceded in death by two husbands, William Deemer and Leonard Black.
Survivors include two sons, William Deemer and his wife, Diane, of Palmer Township, PA and Howard Deemer and his wife, Lisa, of Stewartsville, NJ; three daughters, Judy Burd, of Phillipsburg, NJ, Debbie Davenport of Pohatcong Township, NJ and LaNell Glorioso of Oxford, NJ; two brothers, Ronald Heft and Gary Heft; a sister, Randy Prostak, 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by a daughter, Cherrie Levy and three brothers, Donald "Sonny" Heft, Sr., Robert Heft and Richard Heft and Howard Heft.
Services: Family and friends may call on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ. Funeral services will be celebrated following visitation at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Pat Weber. Cremation will be private.
