Obituary of Richard Gary Freeman
Richard "Dickie" Freeman 65, a lifelong resident of the Washington area passed away on July 31, 2014.
Born: on August 3, 1948 in Phillipsburg to the late Willard and Florence Freeman.
Richard attended Washington High School. He worked as an auto body specialist for many years for Banner Pontiac, Washington, NJ. Dickie loved to fish and especially enjoyed fly fishing. He was also a talented musician. He played the guitar and drums, but his 1st love was the drums. In his early years, Dickie could often be found performing with his band “King Freeman and the Cavadas” at the Washington Boro Park Pool dances.
Survivors: son Cole Freeman and daughter Ashley Freeman, Easton, PA, brother Thomas VanHorn, sisters Shirley Ann Coleman (William) and Debra Franklin (Willie), of Washington, NJ. Two granddaughters Tasayah Freeman and Ayanna Stapleton and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard is preceded in death by his brother Willard Larry Freeman who passed away on July 14, 2014.
Services: Friends and family may call on Thursday, August 7, 2014, from 9:30-10:30 AM at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church, 169 North Lincoln Avenue, Washington, NJ. Funeral services will be celebrated immediately following at 10:30 AM.
Memorial: donations can be made Cole Freeman, C/O the funeral home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
