Obituary of Donald O. Cregar

Donald O. Cregar Sr., 91, of Westtown , NY , passed away November 30, 2012 . Donald passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Born: He was born in Port Murray, NJ, June 29, 1921 , son of the late Charles and Blanche Cregar. Personal: Donald recently moved to his son Donald Jr.'s home in Westtown NY , He previously lived in Phillipsburg NJ , Flemington NJ , and Port Murray NJ. Donald was a pump assembler at Ingersoll Rand, Phillipsburg , NJ . Donald worked for Ingersoll Rand for 43 years, retiring in 1984. Donald graduated from Hackettstown High School class of 1939. Donald proudly served his Country in the US Air force during World War II. His many campaigns were in Northern France , Rhineland , and Central Europe . He bravely fought in the battle of Normandy for his country which he loved. He was a baseball fan. The NY Mets was his favorite team. Donald enjoyed playing golf and would often play with friends and his son Gary. The outings would often revolve around food and after playing a few rounds they would eat and talk about the day's event. He loved going to the casinos in both PA and NJ. He would often take the bus trips down to A.C or would drive with his son. He and a group of his friends, fondly known as the "ROMEO'S" would meet for lunch on Wednesday's. Donald loved his family and every moment spent with them. He was a friend to all and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Memberships: He was a parishioner of the McCrea United Methodist Church in Port Murray. Donald was a member of the Mansfield Township Fire Department for many years, serving as Chief in the 1950's Survivors: Two loving sons, Donald Cregar Jr. and his wife Patricia of Westtown, NY and Gary Cregar and his wife Val Stankiewicz-Cregar of Shawnee, PA; two grandchildren, Jaclyn Murtaugh and her husband Brian of Greenville, NY and Donald Cregar III and his wife Lauretta of Hackettstown, NJ. Donald is predeceased by his devoted wife of 43 years Norma, who passed away in 1988. Services: Visitation will be Thursday, December 6, 2012 , 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. a Fireman's Service will be held at 6:45 at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington, Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Services will be Friday, December 7, 2012 , at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jean McMullen officiating, at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Burial in the Port Murray Cemetery, 24 Cherry Tree Bend Road, Port Murray, NJ 07865. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, McCrea United Methodist Church, Main Street, Port Murray, NJ 07865. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington, Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.
