Obituary of Stanley VanNess
Stanly L. "Skipper" Van Ness, 61, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Manor Care Nursing Home, Easton, Pa, where he had resided for the past two years.
Born: On January 17, 1947, in Somerville, NJ, he was a son of the late Stanley and Pearl Van Ness.
Personal: A previous resident of Bethlehem, Pa, and Washington, NJ, Stanley was a carpenter, working for many local contractors.
He loved working on cars, Western movies, and NASCAR.
Memberships: He was a member of Mt. Pisgah AME Church, Washington, NJ.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Sherri Freeman, Ann Marie Greggs, both of Easton, and Sophia Finley of Philadelphia; two sons, Kerri Van Ness of Easton and Kerr Robinson of Miss; a brother, Pastor Wendell McGinnis; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Michael and Curtis, died earlier.
Services: Visitation will be private. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the church, 169 N. Lincoln Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882. Cremation was held privately.
