Obituary of Vulgens M. Schoen
Vulgens M. Schoen, 63, of Franklin Township, NJ, formerly of Rosemont, NJ, died February 1, 2013 in Franklin Township, NJ.
Born: He was born in Trauchgau, Germany, April 15, 1949. A son the late Rudolf and Aloisia Schoen.
Personal: He was an engineer, inventor, and the Technical Director of Bihler of America, Alpha, NJ, a precision toolmaker and manufacturer. He earned a degree in machine design at the Max-Eyth Technical Institute in Germany. He served in the West German army for 18 months of required service. Vulgens was a warm individual with multiple talents and interests. He was a skilled craftsman who loved to design and build things, including fine cabinets, tables, toys, and even the unique home in which he and his wife lived. He was also highly innovative and held numerous patents through his work as an engineer. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, both throughout the U.S. and abroad. He played soccer in his youth and was a lifelong fan of the sport. He was known as a gracious and generous man, who touched many lives and who will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors: His devoted wife, of 40 years, Betty Schoen; two loving daughters, Cynthia Schoen and her husband George Mashour of Ann Arbor, MI, and Luise Farrell and her husband Tom of Champaign, IL; a loving son, Walter Schoen of Franklin Twp., NJ; two sisters, Waltraud Wiesmath and Anneliese Peisl of Germany; four brothers, Rudolf, Walter, and Albert Schoen of Germany and Helmut Schoen of Pipersville, PA; two grandchildren, Matias and Robert Farrell of Champaign, IL. Services: Calling Hours are Wednesday, February 6, 2013, 12 to 3:00 p.m., and 6 to 9:00 p.m., at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral services will be held, Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor James Scovell officiating at the First Presbyterian Church of Washington, 40 East Church Street, Washington, NJ 07882
Memorials: In lieu of flowers. donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund or the Nature Conservancy.
