Obituary of Ainsworth M. Scott

Ainsworth M. Scott Sr. 78, of Belvidere passed away peacefully on Monday November 18, 2013 at home with his family by his side. Born: on July 8, 1935 in Hazen NJ to the late Stanley and Charlotte Scott. Personal: Ainsworth graduated from Belvidere High School class of 1953. He proudly served his Country in the New Jersey Army National Guard. He owned and operated the Ainsworth M. Scott Bus Company for 51 years with his wife Carol until retiring in 2006. Ainsworth was a past Mayor of Belvidere serving 3 terms. He also served on the town council for 10 years and on the Belvidere Board of Education for 16 years serving as President during his term. He was the benefactor to Adventures Unlimited Belvidere Scout Troop 141. He was a Manager for the Belvidere Midget Football team. A member of the Lions Club and honored by them as citizen of the year and was honored as Grand Marshall for the 100th anniversary Belvidere Scout Troup 141 Parade. Ainsworth was inducted into the Belvidere High School Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Belvidere Good Will Fire Department, a Member of the Special Police for the Belvidere Police Department and a Warren County Constable. He was a well known Philanthropist and will be remembered by all for his service to the community. He enjoyed driving his antique Ford model A Coupe in his spare time, although he spent many hours serving the community the time he treasured most was the time spent with his family. He was a friend to all and will be sadly missed. Memberships: Ainsworth was a parishioner of the Hazen Presbyterian Church in Oxford. He was a private pilot and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Survivors: His loving wife of 58 years Carol, his daughter Gina DiMaio and her husband John, his son Morris Scott and his wife Lauren. He was also survived by his brothers, Richard and his wife Millie, Russell and his wife Ruth and his sister Cherie LaSalia and her husband Harry as well as his Grandchildren Kyle, Sierra, Brittani, Zachary, and Patrick. Services: Friends and family may call on Thursday November 21, 2013 from 12:00-3:00 PM and 6:00-9:00 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral Service will be held Friday November 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM in The First Presbyterian Church of Oxford at Hazen, Route 519 & Brass Castle Road, Belvidere, NJ 07823, Burial will follow in Belvidere Cemetery Memorials: The First Presbyterian Church of Oxford at Hazen, Route 519 & Brass Castle Road, Belvidere, NJ 07823, Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Drive, Newton, NJ 07860, Belvidere Goodwill Fire Department or Belvidere Scout Troup 141. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
