Obituary of Emma Rogers

Emma H. Rogers, 92 of Washington Twp., NJ passed away peacefully at Heath Village Care Center on December 7, 2013. Born: on September 26, 1921 in Newark, NJ to the late Alfred and Alma Hagedorn. Personal: Prior to moving to Heath Village, Emma lived in Fanwood, NJ for 57 years. Emma studied in New York City to become a lab technician and later, took classes at both Rutgers University and Seton Hall, nearly completing a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. She worked as a Bacteriologist from 1940-1955 at Newark City Hospital. While raising her children, she worked part-time at Sears in Watchung until her retirement in 1993. After retirement, Emma and John enjoyed travels in the US and Europe. Emma was of the Presbyterian faith. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Emma was a Girl Scout Leader for 8 years. She loved spending time outdoors at the family's bungalow on the Delaware River. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing and crossword puzzles. Emma was a dedicated Phillies fan since 1955. Her most treasured moments were those spent with family, especially her grandchildren. Her kind-hearted generous spirit and her sunny smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors: She is survived by her loving daughters, Karen Graf and her husband Fred; Ellen Kickenweitz and her boyfriend Gordy Glose; 2 grandsons, Jason and Rich, 2 granddaughters, Ally and Jen. And a sister, Alma Mundi and her husband Karl. Predeceased: Emma is predeceased by her devoted husband of 52 years John and 2 brothers John and Bruno. Services: Friends and family may call on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 4-8 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882 Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the funeral home. Entombment to follow at the Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt. Airy Rd, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations to: Compassionate Care Hospice, 350 Sparta Ave., Bldg B, Suite 2, Sparta, NJ 07871. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
