Henry Ogedegbe, Ph.D, 63, Of Franklin Township, NJ, passed away on August 20, 2009 , at Hackettstown Hospital . Born: In Benin, Nigeria, on March 25, 19 46, he was a son of the late Edmund and Esther Ogedegbe. Personal: Henry was an Associate Professor at UMDNJ in Newark retiring in June of 2009. Earlier in his life he worked as a Clinical Lab Scientist for Manchester Memorial Hospital, Associate Professor for Florida Gulf Coast University. Henry earned an A.S in Medical Lab Technology from Manchester Community College (1977). B.Sc in Biology & Chemistry from Linfield College McMinnville, OR (1978). M.Sc in Biology Central Connecticut State University. (1993). PhD. In Philosophy from Union Institute, Cincinnati OH (1996). He attained certifications in American Medical Technology, American Society of Clinical Laboratory Technology and National Registry in Clinical Chemistry. Major Research Publications include: West Nile Virus Testing in clinical Laboratories, Estimating glomerular filtration rate in renal disease in African Americans, Biochemical markers in acute myocardial infarctions, Megaloblastic Anemia, Dysmetabolic Syndrome and coronary heart disease in African Americans, Hispanics and other minorities, He helped direct PhD. Dissertation projects with many students. Henry wrote an Autobiography in 2009 titled "I walk my path alone with my head held way up high" Survivors: His loving wife of 26 years Esther; two sons, Henry Jr., Stanley both at home; two sisters, Violet Osula and her husband Phillip, Susan Igbinigie and her husband Victor; brother, Sunny Ogedegbe PhD; nieces and nephews, Abies Oghomwen, Igie Ogedegbe, Oghogho Egonwan; cousins, Janet Uwaifo, Kingsley Omorogbe, Derik Uwaifo, Rose Ikphia, Stella Ajayi Watson, Kingsley Ogbebor, Professor E. S. Akpata, Dr. Daniel Ogbeide. Services: Family will receive friends and Family at the Ogedegbe family home, 1 Copperfield Dr, Franklin Township, NJ, Warren County, from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., on Thursday, August 27. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday August 28, 2009, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral services will be Friday August 28, 2009, at 12 PM. , funeral service with Rev. William Noll Officiating, at the United Methodist Church of Washington, 116 East Washington Ave. Washington, NJ. 07882. Cremation will be private.
