David P. Oliva. 62 of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 1, 2013 Born: on January 19, 1951 in Morristown, NJ to the late Rocco & Virginia Oliva. Personal: David graduated from Bernardsville High School Class of 1969. David was of the Catholic faith and a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alpha. Prior to moving to Washington, David lived in Bethlehem Twp., NJ and Bernardsville, NJ. He was employed by Shop Rite for many years, most recently working as a Department Manager in Washington. David was a Committee member for the Boy Scouts Troop 191 in Bethlehem Twp. NJ. He loved the outdoors, this included skiing, water skiing and hiking. He loved watching baseball and football and was an avid NY Mets and NY Giants fan. He loved his family and cherished his memories with his son Chris who he hiked the Appalachian Trail with. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Survivors: He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Susan, his loving son Christopher Oliva, 2 brothers Robert J. Oliva and Richard J. Oliva and his wife Jennifer, four Brother In-Laws, William McCormack and his wife Ramona, John McCormack and his wife Donna, Brian McCormack and his wife Susan and Mark McCormack and his wife Stephanie. Two sister -in-laws, Catherine McCormack wife of brother Robert McCormack (deceased) and Diane Kostrzewa and her husband Raymond. Services: Friends and family may call on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 830 Fifth Avenue, Alpha, NJ, 08865. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations to assist with college costs may be made payable to: Christopher Oliva C/O the funeral Home 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home.
