Obituary of Joseph J. Toole
Joseph J. Toole, 90, of Washington, NJ passed away on January 19, 2025 peacefully at his home with loved ones by his side.
He was born on October 27, 1934 in Nanticoke, PA. He was the son of the late Martin and Victoria Toole.
He graduated from King's College, Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was employed by Lebanon Township School District in Woodglen, New Jersey as a science teacher for 37 years, retiring in 1994. In 1986 he was named teacher of the year. In addition to teaching, he also coached the baseball team for several years and was baseball coach for the Washington Borough Little League team for seven years. He was an avid sports fan, especially Notre Dame football. He enjoyed attending Notre Dame football games with his son, Joe.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage, daughters Susan A. Orlando-Lunn and her husband Terry, Lori M. Bharteey and her husband, Paven and son, Joseph J. Toole, grandchildren, Nicholas and his wife Caroline and Megan Orlando and a sister, Celia Toole. He also leaves behind 3 great- grandchildren and several cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his sisters, Sr. Mary Evangelist and Margaret Godleski and his brother, Martin Toole.
He was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Washington, NJ for over 60 years. He was also a lifetime member of the NJEA and the NEA retired program.

A private family service will take place in the funeral home.
