Obituary of Arlene M Paliscak
Arlene M. Paliscak, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on January 17, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 6, 1935, to the late Frank and Victoria Zajaczkowski, Arlene lived a life of love, service, and devotion.
Arlene loved education and was deeply committed to lifelong learning. She earned her nursing degree from Mercy College, a bachelor's degree from Ryder College, and a master's degree from Glassboro State College.
A dedicated professional, Arlene served as the school nurse for Brass Castle Elementary School and Warren Hills Middle School while her children attended these schools. She concluded her meaningful career at Hagadorn Psychiatric Hospital and Clover Rest Home, where she touched countless lives with her care and compassion.
Arlene was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Joseph's Church in Washington, NJ. She found great fulfillment as a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the Red Hat Society, where she formed lasting friendships while contributing to her community.
Arlene's love for her community extended beyond her professional and religious contributions. She organized and launched the girls' softball league for Washington Borough and Township in 1972, providing opportunities and inspiration for young athletes. She also had a deep appreciation for nature, enjoying camping all around the United States and Canada, gardening, walking, and polka dancing. Arlene adored animals and found joy in their companionship. She especially loved hosting family and friend get-togethers at the family's property in Pennsylvania, creating cherished memories for everyone. Everyone who met her loved her humor and her caring nature.
Arlene is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Paul Paliscak Sr. She was the cherished mother of daughter, Vickie Phares (Edward) , sons Jeffery Paliscak, Mark Paliscak. Arlene was also the proud grandmother (Babcie) of Tori Drach, Zachary Paliscak, and Olivia Paliscak, who brought immense joy to her life. She was also " Babcie" to countless neighborhood children and friends who adored her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving and devoted son, Paul Paliscak Jr.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, from 8:30 to 10:00 AM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Church in Washington, NJ. Family and friends are invited to Hawk Pointe Golf Club, 4 Clubhouse Drive, Washington, NJ 07882 for a luncheon at 12:30 PM to honor Arlene.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arlene's memory to the Saint Joseph Discipleship Center, St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 200 Carlton Ave., Washington, NJ 07882
She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Arlene will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her boundless love for her family, her humor, and her selfless dedication to those around her.
