Florence C. Walsh, 92, of Belvidere, NJ, formerly of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on December 9, 2024, at St. Lukes Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ.

Florence was born on August 20, 1932, in Jersey City, N. J., the only child of William and Anna (Jennings) Walsh. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Hoboken and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Arts from Saint Elizabeth University and two master's degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Rutgers University.

For many years she was an educator and administrator in North Jersey schools and then entered the public library profession. She became the Director of the Township of Union Free Public Library. After moving to the Jersey Shore in 1987, she finished her library career as high school librarian at what is now Donovan Catholic High School in Toms River.

Florence was an avid Mets fan, a faithful follower of Notre Dame football and an ardent admirer of horse racing. Among her other interests were reading, classical music and opera. She also enjoyed occasional trips to Atlantic City.

Over the years, Florence also served as a Eucharistic minister at a local hospital and nursing homes.

Florence moved to Belvidere, NJ, in May of 2024 to be closer to family. She resided at the Mira Vie at Brookfield assisted living facility, where she enjoyed the company of new friends and appreciated the attentive care she received from the nurses and staff members.

Florence is survived by her faithful cousins Margaret Valentino, Lorraine Mulvenna, and Maureen (Ron) Hofer and their families, and her faithful cousins in the Byrne family. Also surviving are the loyal members of the "Taylor Clan", who adopted her as a family member many years ago. Florence is also survived by her wonderful friends and former neighbors Helen H., Carol and Judy, Agnes and Marty, Josie, and Juanita.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753.
