Obituary of Robert C. Kocher

Robert C. Kocher, 82, of Mansfield Township and a life long resident of the Washington, NJ area, died April 26, 2007 in Easton Nursing Center. Born: December 27, 1924 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, he was a son of the late Charles and Loraine Kocher. Personal: Robert was a carpenter, employed for 30 years with the Carpenters' Union, Local 455, Somerville, NJ, retiring in 1983. He served in the Army during World War II. He saw action in central Europe. During the invasion of Normandy, he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Robert enjoyed collecting Indian artifacts, he was a wood carving teacher at local adult schools. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Memberships: He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the VFW Pohatcong Memorial Post 670 and the American Society of Amateur Archeology. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Grace; a son, Clifford of Hackettstown, a daughter, Anita Villano and her husband John (who is currently serving in Iraq) of Washington; three brothers, Charles of Beach Lake, Pa., Donald of Washington and Lowell of Kutztown, Pa., and a sister, Joyce Rupell of Washington. Services: The memorial service is private. Family and friends are invited to the Butler Park Firehouse on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. for lunch and a time of sharing. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills/Ford Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, to the Mansfield or Washington Emergency Squads.
