Obituary of Eugene H Kondler

Eugene "Gene" Kondler, 92, formerly of Oxford, NJ passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024, at The Vero in Bethlehem, PA. Gene was born May 22, 1932, in Los Angeles, CA to the late Henry Kondler and Edith "Gonnelly" Rodenbeck. In November 1949 he joined the Army and went on to fight in the Korean War, alongside the marines. For his brave service he was presented a Korean service medal with four bronze stars. After his time in the service he married the love of his life, Margaret. His loving wife Margaret, of 65 years, passed away in 2020. He worked, for many years, with the US Government programming military flight simulators. He moved on to work as a computer programmer for Hoffman LaRoche, Belvidere, NJ for 20+ years until his retirement in 1996. Gene was a devout past parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in Oxford where he served as an Eucharistic minister, lector, usher, and taught Sunday school. He enjoyed organizing various church functions, like the spaghetti dinners and church picnics. Gene was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, he enjoyed praying, reading, fishing, and gardening. Gene is survived by his daughters, Sharon Timar (Jack), Terry Jacobs (Ray) and Maureen Young (Kevin); his brother Ronald Kondler; Six grandchildren, Melissa, Justin, Sarah, Jack III, Audra, and Haley; Six great grandchildren, Hannah, Natalie, Bryce, Alivia, Miles and Mila. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday June 26, 2024, from 5-8 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home 234 W. Washington, Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church 85 Academy St. Oxford, NJ 07863 with Fr. Charles Sabella officiating.
