Obituary of Joseph Sanocki
Józef "Joe" Sanocki, 79, of Washington, NJ and previously of Branchburg, NJ passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 at RWJ Hospital in Somerville with loved ones by his side.
Józef was born on March 16, 1945 and raised in Wola Debowiecka, Poland to the late Ludwick and Maria Sanocki (nee. Slabnik). He was the oldest of five children and took great pride in being a caretaker for his younger siblings while in Poland. In the earlier years, Joe attended a trade school for mining and was a salesman for Rainbow vacuum cleaners in the 1970's; his personal vacuum is still working today.
Joe was very proud of his American citizenship and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Józef owned and operated his own general contracting company, including building many of the family homes until his retirement. Although, he never fully retired as he would continue to work on projects around the family and children's homes.
Józef enjoyed watching country westerns, playing spider solitaire and ensured the flower gardens were well taken care of. His family members were never without a freshly picked rose bouquet. Joe aka "Jaja" cherished his family and adored his six grandchildren. He always made sure to have his favorite Friendly's Forbidden Chocolate ice cream on hand for every visit. He was an active member of the Veterans Affairs and previously The Polish Falcons of America.
Joe is survived by his beloved children; Jennifer Kerr and her husband Nathan; Anne-Marie Sanocki; Brian Sanocki and his wife Kaitlyn, and his precious grandchildren: Parker, Callie, Lexie, Jaxson, Cole and Myles Sanocki. Józef also leaves behind his brothers John and Kazimierz Sanocki & sisters Anna Orlowski and Wanda Fisher; mother-in-law, Helen Iwanowski, sister and brother in-laws Barbara and Frank D'Ovidio & Alice and Hal Engelke, as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Joe is predeceased by his loving wife of 41 years, Irene Sanocki, who passed away suddenly in 2022. Together they built a life that was filled with love, traditions and memories that will continue through their children and grandchildren.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial arrangements, including military honors will immediately follow at 12:00noon at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery in Doylestown, PA.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the healthcare professionals and staff that have taken great care of Joe throughout the years, especially the VA at Lyons & East Orange campuses, Hackettstown and RWJ Medical Centers the last two years.
