Obituary of Eugenia Kappler

Eugenia Margaret Kappler, 83, of Oxford , NJ , passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Brakeley Park Care Center . Born: On April 20, 19 25 in Oxford , she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Kappler. Personal: She graduated from Washington High School , Class of 1943. She attended Villanova University and received a B.S.N., Johns Hopkins and received a C.N.M., and the University of Maryland with a M.S. She was a nurse's midwife. She had worked in Obstetrics in St. Francis Hospital , and McKinley Hospital , both in Trenton , NJ , Bryn Mawr Hospital in Pennsylvania , and St. Joseph Hospital in Maryland . She was a nursing educator for various hospitals and colleges for over 35 years before her retirement in 1997. For the last 38 years, she moved through the positions from Staff Nurse to Consultant for the Maryland State Department of Health at Hartford County . She proudly served with the Army Cadet Nursing Corps from 1943 to 1946. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Memberships: She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Oxford . She was also a member of the Oxford Red Hat Ladies, the Oxford Young at Heart Club, and the Washington Senior Social Club. Survivors: She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Anne Kappler of Oxford , and Claire Kappler of Somerville , NJ ; 24 nieces and nephews; over 100 nieces and nephews in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations, along with her dog, Molley. Three sisters, Marie Banks, Anna Becker, Catherine Kappler, and three brothers, Lawrence Kappler, F. Vincent Kappler, and Leonard Kappler, all died earlier. Services: A visitation will be held on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue , Washington , NJ 07882 . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at the church, 85 Academy Street , Oxford . Burial will be in the church's cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church, 85 Academy Street , Oxford , NJ 07863 .
