Obituary of Felix A. Slean

Felix A. Slean, 84, previously of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023 in Mount Olive, NJ. Felix was born on August 5, 1939 in Killiney, Ireland to the late Felix and Alice Slean. Raised in Ireland, Felix emigrated to the United States in 1960. He proudly served in the United States Army. He married the love of his life Juliana (nee: Pachatz) on October 26, 1969. Felix and Juliana moved to Washington, NJ in 1974, opening Felix's Tavern the same year. Felix loved to entertain everyone, especially family from overseas. He was very proud to show off his flourishing business in the USA. Felix's Tavern was a staple in Washington for many years and well known for its' St Patrick's day Celebration. Felix owned the tavern for 42 years prior to his retirement in 2016. In his younger years, Felix enjoyed playing soccer in Ireland and also during his time in the Army. He was a member of the Washington American Legion Post 103. He was an avid golfer and a member of Harker's Hollow Golf Club. Above all, Felix loved his family. He will be greatly missed. Felix is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years Juliana Slean, his loving children; Lisa Loewen and her husband Frank and Brian Slean and his wife Lisette. He leaves behind his siblings; Margaret McKeown, Ann Navan, Elish Hughes, Kevin Slean and Lawrence Slean, his cherished grandchildren; Julia, Kelsi and Lainie Loewen and Aiden and Maya Slean. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Sean and Bernard Slean. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 3-7 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 200 Carlton Ave., Washington, NJ 07882 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Felix's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, http://www.stjude.org/ Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Hills Memorial Home.
