As my dear friend enters the Ancestor realm, my heart hurts. I recall all the joys we shared post-Howard University. Our conversations about life, love and magic will always be a joyful memory and bring a smile to my face and my heart. Alvita, I miss you. I'm so terribly heartbroken by this news. Alvita was a burst of sunshine and energy in my day every time I had the pleasure of interacting with her. Whether it was an hour on the phone, or spending 2-3hours in the north Plainfield office talking about everything from politics, to personal, and eventually business, her energy, humor and contagious laugh were the highlight of my day. Her love for family, strong ethics and passion for life were at the core of my interactions with her. She will be dearly missed. May your blessed heart lay in eternal peace my friend. Until we meet again (BTW, you still owe me dinner on the bet you lost about Cuomo resigning!!). Ankoor Naik and all your friends at Baywood.

It is with deep sadness that I received the news of the passing of my dear friend. I first met Alvita at Howard University, and from that day until now a special bond was formed. A lasting and unbreakable friendship was established that has stood the test of time. A friendship that I will always cherish and hold dear. During the summer of 1980, summer school at HU, I had the immense pleasure of being the room mate to this very special person. It was During this time that I began to see Alvita as not just a friend but a bonus sister. That summer holds so many fond memories, and remains in my memory as the summer of all summers. We became inseparable and our friendship knew no bounds. We'd be friends forever. She was the room mate everyone dreams of having. After graduation from HU, we both went our separate ways but stayed in touch via phone calls or visits. However, Alvita made certain she'd be there whenever I needed her. She was there at the hospital for the birth of my first child and she became the godmom to my youngest son. She was there for graduations, birthdays, and other special occasions. I have so many beautiful memories of Alvita, and I thank God for having allowed our paths to cross. My life is much richer having had her as my friend. Alvita was a beautiful soul, a rare gem, a kind and loving human being with a heart of gold and a warm and rich spirit to match. She made my heart smile, and I dearly loved her and cherished our friendship. I will always hold her dear in my heart and remember her fondly. To all that knew her, she will be sorely missed. To Antonay, Ammanuel and the family, my heartfelt sympathies. I will be praying for your strength and for God's comfort during this difficult time. Alvita, rest well my friend, in eternal peace.

My deepest sympathy to the Ayers family!! My fondest memories of Alvita were my freshman year at Howard University. She was my dorm neighbor and we spent a lot of hours hanging around together and with others. I used to laugh at the way she used to eloquently walk around the dorm floor and how we all used to hate seeing Ms Hairston Williams come around. Vita was full of life with a great spirit!! Respectfully, Gresh.
