Obituary of Lucille Thomas

Lucille Thomas, 93, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2023 at St. Luke's Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ. Lucille was born on June 26, 1929 in New Britain, CT to the late George and Susan "China" Schaefer. She graduated from Roxbury High School class of 1947. She grew up in Chester, NJ and later moved to Washington, NJ. Lucille was employed as a telephone switch board operator for the State of NJ at the Hunterdon State School in Clinton, NJ. Her husband Edward C. Thomas passed away in 1990. Lucille was an avid reader. She loved her family and cherished time spent with them, especially her grandchildren. She loved her cats Willie and Rachel. Lucille is survived by her daughters, Judy Burster and her husband Jim, Susan Thomas, Patricia Gizis and her husband Tom and Bonnie McKenna and her husband Terry; her sons, Edward Thomas, Barry Thomas and his wife Luann, Scott Thomas and his wife Barbara; 22 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Lucille was preceded in death by a son Kevin Thomas and a brother George Schaefer. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday June 19th 2023 from 11:00am -1:00 pm at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave, Washington NJ 07882. A funeral service celebrating Lucille's life will be celebrated at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Washington Cemetery.
