Obituary of William G. Wargin Jr.

William G. Wargin Jr., 89 a lifelong resident of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on March 26, 2023 at the Lopatcong Care Center surrounded by his family. Bill was born on August 10, 1933 in Phillipsburg, NJ to the late William G. Wargin Sr and Grayce "Smith" Wargin. Bill graduated from Washington High school class of 1951. He was employed as a lineman for NJ Bell in Washington for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1992. Bill's loving wife of 53 years, Rosalie, passed away in 2020. Bill was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Washington, where he was very involved volunteering his time as the church custodian and Sunday usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree and past Grand Knight. He also volunteered during church bingo and could be found at the concession stand. Bill was also the caretaker for the parish cemetery for many years. Bill was an avid bowler and this is how he met his wife Rosalie, when she accidentally threw her ball into his lane. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Bill was also a past member of the Washington Borough Fire Department and a member of the NJ Exempt Firemen's Association. He was also a diehard NY Giants and NY Mets fan. Bill is survived by his children, William S. Wargin and his wife Mary, Nancy DeLorenzo and her husband Harry, Val Corsino and Stephanie Godshalk and her husband Kelvin; a sister Brenda Bowlby; grandchildren, Becky, Sarah, Katie, Kelli, and Matt Wargin, Dakota Corsino, Scott Ryan Tophony, Shannon Treich and her husband Emmett, Lindsay Hannon and her husband Chris, Brandt DeLorenzo and his wife Jen, Lincoln and Kennedy Godshalk; and great grandchildren, Carter Corsino, Santos Jr, Caramelo, and Nova'Lynn Flores, Cameron Treich, Matthew Hall, Nathaniel DeLorenzo, and Oliver DeLorenzo. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday March 30, 2023 from 4:30-7:30 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday March 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. 200 Carlton Ave. Washington, NJ 07882.
