Obituary of Marietta Tridente

Marietta Tridente (nee Cappelluti) was the ultimate example of a family matriarch. Marietta, age 95, of Washington, NJ passed away on October 12,2022, five days after her husband, Sam. She is survived by her son, Conrad, and his wife, Jacqueline, her granddaughter, Christine and her husband, Mike Fahey, her granddaughter, Linda and her husband, Dave Blazier and her grandson, Michael Tridente and his wife, Alaina. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Brendan Blazier, Ryan and Mattingly Fahey, Easton and Beckett Tridente. While working as a dental assistant for a Hoboken, NJ dentist, the town in which she was born and raised, she met her future husband, Sam. He knew from the first moment he saw her that she was the "Lovely Lady" he was going to marry. They, in fact, were married on June 8, 1947 and just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in their residence in Paragon Village in Hackettstown, NJ. They lived in Hoboken until 1981 when they moved to Manalapan, NJ where they lived before moving to Washington, NJ in 1991. While living in Hoboken, Marietta held a series of important jobs. She worked as a dental assistant when her son was born. She was a stay -at -home mom until 1954 and then returned as a part-time dental assistant job until 1962. In 1962, she returned to work full time at Stevens Institute in Hoboken. Initially, she worked in the print shop. After a few years she was asked to run the entire print shop. Her success there was the reason for the Administration to ask her to change careers again and she became Postmistress of the Stevens Tech Post Office. She held this position until she retired from Stevens Institute in May, 1986. In addition to raising a family and working, Marietta was active in the Democratic Club in Hoboken and served as President. She also was very involved in the various Mothers' Clubs at her son's grammar school and high school. Marietta will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory, however, will always be one of a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and good friend who loved her family and would do anything for them in a selfless and caring way. Marietta will be waked at St. Theodore Roman Catholic Church on Monday, October 17, 2022 from 9:45AM to 10:45AM. A Mass of Christion Burial will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Theodore Roman Catholic Church, 855 NJ-57, Port Murray, NJ 07865. Entombment will immediately follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery and Mausoleum, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ 08801.
