Obituary of Fred Stanley Johnson

Fred Stanley Johnson, Sr., 78, of Washington Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at Good Shepard Specialty Hospital in Bethlehem, PA, on December 15, 2009 . Born: On June 25, 19 31 in Oxford, NJ, he was a son of the late William and Margaret Johnson. Personal: Fred was a life long resident of the Oxford area. Fred was a machine mechanic for Fernwood Transformers in Belvidere, NJ. He retired from Lipton Tea in Flemington, NJ after 20 years of service. He retired in 1996. Fred attended Belvidere High School. He was of Methodist faith. Fred proudly served in the Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean Conflict. He served as a corporal in the Military Police in a motorcycle unit named Hell on Wheels. Fred was an avid NY Mets fan. He enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Earlier in life he played softball locally. Survivors: His loving wife of 48 years, Carol; two daughters, Peggy Rush and her husband Dale of Belvidere, NJ, Karen Frutchey and her husband Kevin of White Township; son, Fred Johnson, Jr. and his fiance Lorrie DeRemer of Brodheadsville, PA; two brothers, Ronald Johnson of Washington State and Larry Johnson of Pocono Pines, PA; five grandchildren, Richard Rush and his wife Melissa, Regina Rush, Heather O'Neil and her husband Edward 4th, Dawn Johnson and Megan Frutchey; two great-grandchildren, Richard Rush, Jr. and Edward O'Neil 5th. He was predeceased by three brothers, William, David and Bruce. Services: Visitation will be Friday, December 18, 2009 , 7 to 9 p.m. at the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ, 07882. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 19, 2009 , at 10 a.m. at the Summerfield United Methodist Church, 68 Summerfield Rd., Belvidere, NJ 07823, with Pastor Barbara Hoffman officiating. Burial at the Montana Mountain Cemetery, Harmony, NJ. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.
