Obituary of John L Milewski

John L. Milewski, 91, of East Stroudsburg, PA formerly of Washington and Bradley Beach, NJ passed away peacefully on November 1, 2021 at Spring Village of Pocono. John was born on August 25, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ to the late John and Cecilia "Pakula" Milewski. He graduated from James Ferris High School class of 1948. After high school John he attended college for engineering then decided to join the US Air Force. He served proudly during the Korean War. After the war he returned home and became a NJ State Trooper. He graduated from the NJ State Police Academy on August 20, 1954 in the 46th class. During his 8 years of service John was stationed at the Hope and Washington Barracks. He then went on to have a successful career in the insurance industry and then with his own investigation business. John married his soulmate Maryann "Baratto" in 1956. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 5170. John enjoyed the Jersey Shore and traveling across the country by car. He also enjoyed tennis, flying and was a licensed pilot. He was our husband, dad, poppop, great poppop, friend, and mentor and always stood by us and taught us to be strong and independent. He loved the holidays and having family and friends around. He was extremely generous and believed very much in all the great work St Jude does for children and donated regularly. John is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Maryann; daughters, Margaret Gauntt and her husband Philip, Maryann Milewski and Stephanie Pieper; a sister, Maryann Morgan; a grandson Victor Pieper and his wife Shannon; great grandchildren Damian, Christina, Jonathan, Abigail and Ashton. John was preceded in death by a grandson Corey Anton Brunner and brother Steve Milewski. Family and friends may pay their respects as a duel viewing for John and Maryann on Sunday November 7, 2021 from 4-6 PM at the Chapel At Warren Valley. 384 Route 57 West. Washington, NJ 07882. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Monday November 8, 2021 at 9:00 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. 830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940.
