Obituary of Lena Gentile

Lena Gentile 91, of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ on October 3, 2021. Lena was born on May 8, 1930 in Bound Brook, NJ to the late Pellegrino and Mary "Pirone" Piantadosi. She graduated from Bound Brook High School, class of 1948. She married her childhood sweetheart and late husband Florio Gentile in 1950. They lived in Middlesex, NJ for 59 years in the house that Florio built for them; where they raised their daughter Sherry Dell Elba and their son Arthur Gentile. Lena was a dedicated employee of Beecham Laboratory where she worked in the Quality Control/Quality Assurance Departments. She was called back from retirement twice until they merged and closed their doors. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church. She spent her endless energy cleaning, shopping or attending Curves of Middlesex. She enjoyed baking and was most known for her pound cake and Honeymoon cake recipes. Lena was known for her quick witted responses which led to her family's love of playing cards. She passed that inspiration onto all who joined us during our annual Ocean City vacations. Lena loved vacationing with Florio, her family and her friends. Lena and Florio moved to Washington NJ in 2009. She was a role model to many and will be missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by her loving daughter Sherry Dell Elba (Robert) and her siblings; Rose Marie Conover (John) and Lou Piantadosi. Lena also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren Michael Robert (Lisa), Matthew (Chelsae), Catherine (Scott), Michael Arthur, Leanna, and Sarina along with 5 great grandchildren Brianna, Isabella, Serafina, Giovanni and baby Angelo. brother-in-law and sister-in-law Arnold and Nancy Gentile. In addition to her parents, Lena is predeceased by her husband Florio, who passed in 2013 and her son Arthur in 2011. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Funeral Service will take place on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM inside the funeral home. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, NJ.
