Obituary of Charles J. Seeley
Charles J. Seeley Jr., 80, of Washington, NJ passed away on July 12, 2021 at Hackensack Meridian Health Hospital with his loving wife by his side.
Charles (Charlie) was born on March 5, 1941 in Hackettstown, NJ to the late Charles and M. Eleanor Seeley.
He attended North Hunterdon High School. He was an active member of Laborers Local 472, working the majority of his career at PKF-Mark III, Inc where he retired in 2003. Charlie was a member of Port Colden United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and the last of the original members of the"men's breakfast" group. He enjoyed Sunday morning breakfasts with friends at diners, churches, and firehouses. He was a fan of NASCAR and attended races at various racetracks. He loved camping and traveling all over the country spending winters in Port Richey, FL. He was especially proud of his ten-week trip to Alaska with his wife, Ruth in 2004. Charlie was known for his meticulous flower and vegetable gardens. He loved making his own spaghetti sauce, pickles, relishes, jams and jellies. After his retirement, Charlie grew a passion for cooking and loved sharing his recipes with friends and family.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth Hann Seeley and their daughter Jamie Kavelak. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Stephanie Davie (Jestin), Joshua Kavelak (Kristian), and Haley Kavelak (Christine). He also leaves behind his great grandchildren; Lauren, Jackson, Carter, Braydon, and Charlie, and his siblings; Clifford Seeley (Sue), Mary Jane Petty, and Dale Seeley (Mary Jane).
In addition to his parents, Charlie is predeceased by his son David Seeley, his son in law Timothy Kavelak, and his sister; Joan Johnston.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 3:00- 6:00 PM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A memorial church service will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Port Colden United Methodist Church, 64 Port Colden Rd., Washington, NJ 07882.
