Chris Autore posted a condolence
Tuesday, January 31, 2023
I met Wayne in 1968 when he played drums for me at the Holiday Inn in Jersey City. My name is Chris Autore originally from Connecticut now in Fort Lauderdale Florida. I’ll never forget Wayne. I remember him all these years. He used to drive me to Penn station every night after the game so I could take the train home to be with my wife and son. And then I will give you back to Jersey City the following day. Wayne was very kind always. Over the past 55 years I have occasionally tried to call Wayne or send him a letter never to hear back Monday. I think I found him and called him and he hung up on me. I’m not sure he knew who is calling him and tonight I looked him up again. And found his obituary. I would’ve love to talk to you one more time Chris Autore. If Wayne’s sister reads this, please try and contact me. I am on Facebook as Chris Autore Pianist.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Wayne. I lived on 21st St and knew him then when he had a recording studio. He got me into the Copa to see Sammy Davis Jr. He came to my going away party when I went into the Navy. I always wondered what happened to him. Very sad to hear this news.

Wayne
Thank you for who you were in the world.
You were kindness and a man of few words.
And when you did speak it was something of value.
You were always in the background and yet always approachable.
As I think about you I realize your drumming was your voice. It was strong and clear.
Thank you for being Lydia’s best friend.
The world will miss this gentle soul.
Good journey home.
See you later.
Much love
Laura
