Barbara Hoff posted a condolence
Saturday, June 6, 2020
I wanted to share my condolences with all of the family. Joan went from being a classmate to a family member when she married Rodney. We kept in touch by phone as we got older, sharing about our families--children and their children. She surprised me with a phone call about a month ago to catch up. I will miss her and our phone calls. Barbara Lance Hoff and family

Conversations with Joan: I remember receiving a phone call from Joan one afternoon, regarding our Christmas Shoebox Ministry. She told me that because of her physical limitations, she could no longer go to the store and shop for items to fill the shoeboxes. Joan wanted to make a contribution and told me she would get it to me right away. I received a very generous check in the mail and knew there was going to be a large number of shoe boxes to fill…and there were!
Another and more recent conversation I had with Joan;
Joan shared with me about something that was heavy on her heart. She was saddened by the number of elderly people who lived by themselves and were very lonely. This was a subject that was near and dear to my heart as well. Joan and I talked for well over an hour and through that conversation was birthed in our church a Shut-in Ministry. The shut-ins that we serve receive cards in the mail, phone calls and even visits to brighten their day. They are not forgotten!
Joan may not have been able to get out to church but she remained active in serving the Lord from her home. Joan was also a great encouragement to me, as she was a faithful prayer warrior; praying for her family, for our church family and for so many others. She will truly be missed.
May God hold the hearts of Joan’s family and all of those who loved her, as they walk through this difficult time.
Picturing Joan in the arms of Jesus…priceless!
God’s Peace and our love,
