Obituary of Douglas Hill

Douglas Perry Hill, age 93, died Doug passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2012 with his family. Doug was a resident of Raritan, NJ for 62 years and previously resided in Martinsville, NJ. Born in Bound Brook, NJ on July 21, 1919 to the late Wellington and Kitty Hill. He was a graduate of Bound Brook High School class of 1937. Doug was employed as a Chief Tester of resins for Union Carbide the former Bakelite Co in Bound Brook, NJ, he retired in 1984 after 44 years of service. Doug proudly served his Country in the US Army during in the Pacific Theater. Doug was a Staff Sergeant with the 6th Army, 2nd Engineer, Special Brigade, 162 Ordinance Maintenance Company. Doug was a member of United Reformed Church in Somerville, N.J. Doug was a member of the American Legion Post 1000. He was also Master Mason and a Member of the Masonic Lodge #46 since 1949. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and was a handyman for everyone. Doug was a hard worker and loved his family. He treasured every moment spent with them. All will sadly miss him. He is survived by 3 sons Douglas S. Hill and his wife Elmi, David W. Hill and his wife Barbara, Donald G. Hill and his companion Alice Day, 4 grandchildren Douglas, Amanda, Debra and Marissa, 2 great grandchildren, 1 nephew & 2 nieces. In addition to his parents, Doug is predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Doris L. Hill. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, Masonic Services will be held at 3:00PM at Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, New Jersey 08807. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 9:30 AM with Pastor Paul Walters officiating at Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, New Jersey 08807, Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Somerset Masonic Temple, 14 North Doughty Ave, Somerville NJ 08876. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234. W. Washington, Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.
