Obituary of Oscar H O'Connor

Oscar H. O'Connor, 94, a lifelong resident of Washington, NJ passed away on July 29, 2023 with loved ones by his side. Oscar was born on October 8, 1928 in Washington, New Jersey to the late John and Mary O'Connor. He was a graduate of Washington High School Class of 1946 and went on to serve in the United States National Guard in the tank battalion, earning the rank of Sergeant. Oscar was a member of the Host Masonic Lodge # 6 in High Bridge, NJ. He enjoyed fishing and all outdoor activities in his free time. Above all, Oscar enjoyed spending time with his family. Oscar is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Elizabeth and their children; Bridget Mazur and John O'Connor and his wife Debbie, Grandchildren; Andrea E. Carney and her husband Sean, Sara M. Rafferty, Bernard J. Rafferty and his wife Krista and Ryan Derr and his wife Shannon. He also leaves behind his cherished great grandchildren; Josie, MJ, Bernie, Catherine, Shannon, Ben, Colton, and Hailey. In addition to his parents, Oscar is predeceased by his daughter, E. Audrey Rafferty who passed in 2017, son in laws; Bernard J. Rafferty who passed in 2011 and Thomas B. Mazur who passed in 2012, sister, Kathleen Kahn and brother, Jack O'Connor. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A service celebrating Oscar's life will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial at Montana Mountain Cemetery, Harmony, NJ will immediately follow.
