Obituary of Russell Edward Schramm

Russell Edward Schramm, 95, of Washington, NJ, formerly of Bernardsville, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019 at The Lyons VA Medical Center in Lyons, NJ with loved ones by his side. Russell was born on March 15, 1924 in Springfield, NJ to the late Albert and Hannah Schramm. Russell was a graduate of Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield, NJ. After graduation Russell honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a Radioman during World War II on the USS Neville, USS Samuel Livermore, and the USS Mayo. After being honorable discharged from the Navy in 1946, Russell went on to receive his bachelor's degree in finance. He would later go on to meet and marry the love of his life, Audrey, and they would go on to have three children together. He worked as a banker at Raritan Valley Bank, where he would become Vice-President. Russell was a member of the Springfield, NJ American Legion Post 228 for 73 years. He was also a member of the Whitehouse Rescue Squad. He enjoyed painting, golf, bowling and fishing in his downtime. He also excelled as a minor league baseball player, before joining the navy in 1943. Russell is survived by his children; Robin Komosinski and her husband Richard, Tempe Schramm, and Drew Schramm and his wife Kathy. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Carolyn, Sarah, and Gregory, Great Grandchildren; Jackson and Benjamin. Russell also leaves behind his sister, Edith Perry, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is pre deceased by his wife, Audrey, and his siblings; Alberta, Bernard, Raymond, and Gertrude. Family and Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Washington, 40 East Church Street Washington, NJ 07882 for a Memorial Service. Military Honors will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Russell's name to the Lyons VA Medical Center, 151 Knollcroft Rd., Lyons, NJ 07939. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882.
