Dorothy "Dottie" M. McLaughlin, 88, of Greenwich Township, NJ passed away peacefully on May 17, 2017 at home with her family by her side.
Dottie was born on October 31, 1928 in Queens, NY to the late Arthur and Grace Schmitt.
Dottie was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School class of 1946. Soon after graduation, she married the love of her life Francis "Frank" McLaughlin. In her early years she worked as a sales associate for PC Richards and a florist in Queens. She also was employed by Brooklyn Union Gas Co. Dottie was a devout Catholic. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Washington, NJ. She was very involved in the church serving as an usher with her husband Frank for many years, she was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society, the Couples Club, the president of the Social Club and a weekly volunteer at bingo. She was a member of the Warren County Council for seniors on Aging. She also worked with Saint Mary's Golden Age where she arranged trips and travel details for the members as well as involvement with the Mansfield Seniors. Dottie loved to travel. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting especially for her family and friends. Above all, Dottie loved her family. She treasured every moment spent with them. She will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Francis McLaughlin, her loving sons, Robert McLaughlin and his wife Monika and Richard McLaughlin and his wife Joan Moran. 3 cherished grandchildren, Donna, Meredith and Thomas and 2 great-grandchildren Christian and Emma.
Friends and family may pay their respects on Monday May 22, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Warren Hills Memorial Home. 234 W. Washington Ave, Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 200 Carlton Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882. Interment will immediately follow the Mass at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Washington, NJ.
