Lawanna A. Smith, 93, of Easton, Pennsylvania and previously of Asbury, NJ passed away peacefully at her home on April 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 6, 1931, in Asbury, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Mary Alpaugh.
Lawanna was a proud graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1950.
Throughout her life, she worked at several local establishments, including the Holiday Inn in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, Bell Telephone, and Zimmerman's Sweet Shop. Known for her green thumb and love of flowers, Lawanna was an avid gardener and a devoted 50 plus year member of the Warren County Garden Club and was a pillar of the Asbury United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Cinda Smith Patton and her husband Larry, and April Borchelt and her husband Donald. Lawanna also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Lukus Bivins and his wife Lisa of Fordsville, Kentucky, and Houston Morris and wife Shelby of Skaneateles, New York, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Emilia and Lucy Morris.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Houston Smith, who passed away in 2012, and by her siblings; Donald Alpaugh, Sidney Alpaugh III, Eleanor Merrill and Bernice A Seifert.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey, 07882. A memorial service celebrating Lawanna's life will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
