Obituary of Sara E. Strusz

Sara (Sally) E. Strusz, 83, of Washington, NJ and previously of Long Valley, NJ passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, at Morristown Medical Center. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, on November 22, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Maxwell Ewing and Marion Ewing (nee. Gibbs). Sally was the beloved wife of Richard F. Strusz for 57 wonderful years, whom she is survived by. She also leaves behind her children, Suzanne Sloan and her husband Christian, and Donald Strusz and his wife Janet; her cherished grandchildren, Shannon, Emma, Anna, and Madeline; and her sister-in-law, Rebecca Ewing. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Scott Ewing. A devoted member of the Presbyterian Church, Sally was actively involved in the Presbyterian Women's organization at her former church in Long Valley, New Jersey. In addition, she was the recording secretary for the Newton Presbytery as well as the moderator of the Presbyterian Women of the Newton Presbytery. Sally also dedicated time to serving as a Girl Scout leader, where she lead trips to London, Paris, South Carolina, and Georgia with her daughter's troop. An avid reader, she worked as a librarian assistant at Rutgers University, Long Valley Middle School, and Mendham High School. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, April 3rd, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882 and again on Friday, April 4th, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A service celebrating Sally's life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, New Jersey, will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sally's name to the Washington Presbyterian Church at 40 East Church Street, Washington, NJ 07882 or the Williams Syndrome Association at www.williams-syndrome.org.
