Although it's been way too many years since I last got to see Art and Elaine, we kept in touch through Christmas cards. I used to call them my Summer Mom & Dad, as for years I'd work on their farm in NJ. The impact they left on my life is something I've never forgotten and have cherished for over 40 years. They taught me the value of hard physical work- I actually enjoyed getting up at 4:30 in the mornings with them. They shared with me their love of God. No matter how tired, every night we would get on our knees and pray. They showed me the joy in generousity and giving. We would fill trucks with vegetables they'd grow and harvest and then take up to Word of Life Camp or give to others in need. Here's a picture I took of them in 1980 as they shared a trip to Word of Life with me. Art was the one to teach me to drive the trucks and tractors on the farm. I remember my first time on the farm when they taught me how to pick beans and peas. They played as hard as they worked, as that first day I also learned how to quickly shell the peas for a battle in the field. Of course it was Art that started it! The stories I could tell. I watched them open their home and hearts to many. Art taught me to have fun in work. He almost always had a smile, sometimes it was even mischievous as he plotted something we knew Elaine would yell at us for. I'm so thankful that God put them in my life while growing up. I know they helped shape my love for God. Thank you to the rest of the family for sharing them with me and so many others. God Bless

Art was my absolutely favorite patients! I miss the long talks we had every visit. I felt like I was visiting an old friend not a patient. He loved to talk about his Lord and Savior and shared Him with whoever came through the door. He used to call me often just to ask me if I Wrecked my car recently. I had 2 wrecks in the time I knew him and he always joked about alerting the people in the areas I drive. I miss his calls and I miss him too. I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven and to meet his wife Elaine who he always spoke so highly of and I know he missed her dearly. I’m so happy they are reunited.

Elaine and Art you are my most treasured friends and I will miss you but with all your hard work throughout your life you are having eternal peace that I know! Enclosed is a photo that shows you working hard into your 80’s ! Also your enjoyment of hunting and telling stories I will always remember as the photo shows! One story told was that one of the deer was a female with antlers ! The photos make make me smile and that is a good memory
