Obituary of Elinor L. Berrey

Elinor L. Berrey, 83, of Belvidere, NJ, formally of Metuchen, NJ passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024.

She was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts to the late Harry F. Peckham and Elinor M. Peckham (nee. Stetson).

Elinor was a kind and gentle soul with a passion for creativity and community. She previously worked as a Cook at Rutgers University, where her warm smile and delicious meals were cherished by students and staff alike.

Elinor's talents extended far beyond cooking and baking in the kitchen. She found joy and comfort in sewing, knitting, and crocheting, often creating heartfelt gifts for family and friends. Her hands were always busy crafting something beautiful, and her heart was always full of love. She also enjoyed the quiet satisfaction of completing jigsaw puzzles, a pastime that reflected her patient and thoughtful nature.

Elinor's legacy is one of kindness, creativity, and devotion to those she loved. Her warm and caring spirit will be deeply missed, but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Elinor is survived by her loving children, Debra Pippin and William Berrey (Karen); her cherished granddaughter, Kaitlyn Petrovski (Korey); and her adored great-grandchild, Paige. She also leaves behind her brothers, Willey Peckham (Marianne), and Sewell Peckham.

In addition to her parents, Elinor is predeceased by her son, Kevin Berrey and her brothers, Robert Peckham and Harry Peckham.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Ennoble Care Hospice of New Jersey.
