Obituary of Theresa Mary Herrick

Theresa M. Herrick, 96, formerly of Washington and Hampton, NJ passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024 at the Bridgeway Care Center. Theresa was born on June 23, 1928 in Clifton, NJ to the late George and Bertha "Ruffing" Schwab. She graduated from Eastside High School class of 1946. She married her loving husband Leonard Herrick in 1948. They moved to Washington, NJ in 1961. Together they owned and operated Herrick's Market on the corner of Stewart and Taylor Street until 1974. Later in life Theresa also worked for Consumer Research and Peddlers Paper in Washington until her retirement in 1988. She was a devout catholic and a past parishioner on St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Washington. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, St. Joseph's Social Club, St. Joseph Food Pantry and also helped in the church office. Theresa was also an avid reader. Theresa is survived by her daughter, Judy Herrick; a sister in-law, Muriel Schwab and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 1982, a daughter Kathleen Herrick in 1973, a sister Cecilia Taylor and two brothers George Schwab and Joseph Schwab. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday July 9, 2024 from 10:30 – 11AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. 200 Carlton Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the church. Theresa will be laid to rest next to her husband at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Theresa's name to St. Joseph Church. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Warren Hills Memorial Home.
