Jim was born March 6, 1954 in Dover, NJ to the late Cecil and Muriel "Terwillegar" Reed, Sr. He graduated from West Morris High School, Class of 1972. He received an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Morris County Community College. Jim married his loving wife Linda "Fentzlaff" in 1978.
Jim was employed as a Sr. Corrections Officer at the Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Annandale, NJ for more than 27 years before retiring in 2003. Jim was a member of the Mansfield Lodge No. 36. He played softball for many years in the Washington/Mansfield Softball League. Jim also enjoyed bowling with the Tuesday Night Bowling League at Oakwood Lanes. He played golf with the Wednesday Golf League at Fairway and also with family and friends, especially enjoying the Father's Day golf outing with friends and their sons. He enjoyed his daily workouts at Gibsons Gym and socializing over a cold beer at Felix's Tavern. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In 2016, Jim and his wife moved to North Carolina to be close to their daughter and her family, especially grandsons Reed and Nathan. They were his joy. Every year he and his family would travel to Ocean City, NJ for their annual vacation that they had been doing since 1979. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends when he visited Washington, which would always be his "home." And even though he had moved out of the area, he always watched his Yankees, Giants, Rangers, Michigan, and UNC.
